Summer Break Is Here!

Milne Public Library
School will be out for the summer!!! As a result, it is the prefect time to start looking for your new home! It is understandable why any parent would put off attempting to relocate to a new abode in the middle of the school year. With homework, extra curricular activities, sports, play dates, competitions, and festivals occurring weekly and almost every weekend, it makes sense to take advantage of the summer lull. Another reason why it is a good idea to look for homes during the summer months is if you do have children in school, you do not want to abruptly uproot them from one school system for another if you are moving into another district. By choosing a home and closing the deal by September, this allows children to settle in, make new friends, and get acclimated to their new surroundings before the start of the school year.

Favorable summer weather also makes looking for a home much easier. After all, it is hard to envision a home that boasts a "professionally landscaped yard with a pool" when there are 3 inches of snow on the ground and a cover on the pool. Nice weather also makes it easier to look at the condition of the roof, the state of the yard, the usefulness of a deck or sun porch, etc. However, many people do take advantage of favorable weather to sell their home which creates an influx of houses onto the market, more competition, and in some cases higher prices and bidding wars. All things considered, never forget that the best time to buy a home is when you are READY and can AFFORD to do so. Making a rash decision on a home is never a good idea no matter the time of year.
